The amazing colours, textures, patterns and contrasts of the Pilbara Landscape never cease to amaze. This work is about the rich vibrancy of the red/purple earth contrasted against the new and older fading spinifex. Rain brings new life and a cleansing and enrichment to the environment. I have used painted muslin, fibres, fragments of silk and cotton and applied them with the machine embroidery technique where the sharp pointed needle is used as a drawing tool. Over 80 individually made spinifex motifs have been multi layered to re create this art work.
